Who’s behind Alkaline Bathing

We measure instead of making promises. Four years now, under the palms.

Alkaline Bathing is the brand, Bathtime the bathhouse on Koh Phangan, Gunther Stange the Bathmaster — and behind them a small team who are bathers themselves. What we pass on is experiential knowledge from more than 1,000 guided baths. No medical advice, no promises of healing.

Who guides you

Gunther Stange. Bathmaster, not a doctor.

My path into the water wasn’t a straight one. Five stations, each of which left something behind — above all, a feel for it.

I’m not a doctor and I don’t want to be one. I share what I’ve observed in more than 1,000 guided baths — experiential knowledge, not medical advice. What you do with it is up to you. A hundred per cent.

  1. Training

    Electronics technician

Anyone who works with electricity learns early on: measure first, then touch. The rule has stuck — these days with test strips and a thermometer instead of a multimeter.

  2. Entrepreneur

    IT entrepreneur

Building systems, troubleshooting, documenting processes. I still bring that way of thinking into every bath.

  3. On the road

    Coaching and world travel

Working with people, then the journey. The question of how the body really regenerates travelled with me — and in the end it brought me to an island.

  4. Growth

    Personal development

Years of personal transformation: coaching, my path as a psychonaut and my work with Amanita muscaria — combined with the knowledge of modern psychology and trauma processing. That is what turned the technician into someone who can hold space: the Gunther of today.

  5. Today

Koh Phangan, for over five years

This is where the Bathtime bathhouse came into being — and the protocol I pass on in the webinar, the Homebathing course and the Bathmaster training.

Who else is there

A bathhouse needs more than a Bathmaster. The team.

The people who work at the bathhouse are bathers themselves. The roles as they are today — without titles nobody needs.

Bathmaster

Gunther

Runs the bathhouse, guides guests in the water himself and leads the webinar, the course and the training. Bathmaster, not a doctor.

Gunther’s No. 1

Melanie

Takes the load off Gunther — with organisation, private appointments and support.

The voices you’ll hear on the phone

Steffi & Lisa

They hold the organisation together behind the scenes and look after our Homebathing and Bathmaster customers. When your phone rings and a warm voice asks how you’re getting on in the water — that’s Steffi or Lisa.

How it began

From juice fasting to the bathhouse. Five stations, one trail.

The story of Alkaline Bathing wasn’t dreamt up at a desk. It’s a search that began with juices and ended in eight pools under a palm-leaf roof — for now.

How bathing works

  1. Juice fasting

It began with a simple question: what happens when the body gets a break from digesting? Juice fasting was the first answer — and the first hint that taking things away does more than adding them.

  2. Naturopathy

From there into naturopathy — and to the question of how the body gets rid of acids.

  3. Personal transformation and psychology

With Amanita muscaria and the Amanita Academy: personal transformation and psychology as part of the path — and the realisation that deacidification doesn’t only happen in the body.

  4. The teachers

Dr. Peter Jentschura, Kurt Tepperwein, Bioleo, the Polish bath practitioner Robert and several other bath practitioners gave the practice a system. We still go by it today — and measure for ourselves, every bathing day.

  5. The bathhouse

The search became a bathhouse: Bathtime on Koh Phangan. Today, eight pools under a palm-leaf roof, where people have been bathing for four years.

What we hold to

Three values. None of them is a slogan.

They don’t hang on a wall; they’re part of the routine of every bathing day — from the code word to the closing reflection.

Radical simplicity

Water, carbonates, time. No device, no supplement, no twenty-step programme. What you need fits into a tub — and into three levers you can measure yourself.

pH · temperature · time

Personal responsibility

You adjust the pH and temperature with us, and you decide when to get out. We hold the space and tell you what we see. The responsibility stays with you — a hundred per cent, not ninety.

100% yours

Care

Smudging, house rules, code word, closing reflection: for us, care isn’t a feeling but a routine that’s the same every day. That’s exactly why you can let go in the water.

Sacred Care

What we count

Four numbers. No promises.

We don’t make claims, we count.

What we don’t count: effects. We measure pH, temperature and time — not what a bath has changed in you. You observe that yourself, with photos, your weight and your own log.
