Sweet potato toast with avocado

Sweet potato toast with avocado — 2 servings, 30 minutes

Method

4 steps, 30 minutes.

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Cut the sweet potato lengthways into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. Brush the slices with olive oil, season with salt and bake for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through.
  3. Mash the avocado with lemon juice and salt.
  4. Spread the warm slices with the avocado and top with cress, chilli flakes and halved tomatoes.

Why alkaline

100%alkaline-forming ingredients, estimated using PRAL logic

Sweet potato and avocado are alkaline-forming — the toast replaces bread, which counts as an acid-former in alkaline cuisine.

Tip from the kitchen

You can bake the slices in advance and reheat them in the toaster in the morning, in 2–3 rounds.

What “alkaline” means here. Alkaline-forming and acid-forming describe how a food is classified in the acid-base table (PRAL logic) — a calculated value, not a statement about effects in the body. The 80/20 rule of thumb — 80% alkaline-forming foods, 20% good acid-forming foods — is our experience-based model from the alkaline kitchen, not a diet plan. Bathmaster, not a doctor: these recipes are cooking, not therapy. Experience-based model
