Tomato and basil salad with avocado

Tomato and basil salad with avocado — 2 servings, 10 minutes

Method

4 steps, 10 minutes.

  1. Cut the tomatoes into slices and wedges, lay them out on a platter and salt them lightly.
  2. Slice the avocado, and cut the onion into wafer-thin rings.
  3. Tuck both in between the tomatoes and tear basil leaves over the top.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, and season with pepper.

Why alkaline

100%alkaline-forming ingredients, estimated using PRAL logic

Tomato, avocado, onion, basil and lemon are alkaline-forming — the classic caprese without the mozzarella, purely alkaline.

Tip from the kitchen

Never store tomatoes in the fridge — at room temperature they keep their flavour.

What “alkaline” means here. Alkaline-forming and acid-forming describe how a food is classified in the acid-base table (PRAL logic) — a calculated value, not a statement about effects in the body. The 80/20 rule of thumb — 80% alkaline-forming foods, 20% good acid-forming foods — is our experience-based model from the alkaline kitchen, not a diet plan. Bathmaster, not a doctor: these recipes are cooking, not therapy. Experience-based model
